Packing what’s left of me in a guitar case, Holding onto hope that you show your face
But no one looks like you
Bartender says it’s gonna be a good night, I see familiar faces as they’re starting to line up
But no one here looks like you
It’s been almost a year since we took that walk, crying in the street, and making neighbors talk
There ain’t too many easy ways to hear, “I don’t love you anymore”
Fake smiling in between every note, wishing that I’d never heard these songs I wrote
The first set is almost done
The people drink and dance and try to forget, rubbing up against who they’re gonna regret
And my whiskey is almost gone
Called her on the phone for a month or so, tried to act sober but she’d always know
There ain’t too many easy ways to hear, “Please don’t call me anymore”
Loadin up to go now it’s quarter to four. The boys are drinking Whiskeys like they won the war
But I still feel like throwing the fight
I wish you were still waiting up for me at the end of this ride like you used to be
With a sleepy-eyed kiss goodnight
Trying so hard not to learn his name, but talk in a small town is hard to tame
There ain’t too many easy ways to hear, “you’re not with her anymore”
Home now, I sneak into the bedroom to see, my beautiful babies lying sound asleep, and think, maybe
I’m ok
Lay there and for the first time think, they say time heals everything and my heart fills with maybe I’m
ok
It’s been almost a year since we took that walk, crying in the street, and making neighbors talk
There ain’t too many easy ways to here, where I don’t love you anymore.
